Title: It's been so long !!
Well I have been terribly slack about updating this blog!!! My apologies to everyone that read it!!
Life has been very busy, and seems to be settling a little now! For a while at least!!
We didn't have quite as hot a Summer hereas the previous year, which was very nice, but it was still dry!!
The garden is always astruggle to keep going over the Summer, and about this time of year, I start to think about getting it into some sort of shape again!
The Poochera Farm is going well, it keeps us busy going from one to the other, checking sheep etc.
All my coated ewes should be in lamb now, and we are hoping for one or two coloured lambs this year!
My EL stud ewes were all put with Rupert this year, so we should have some new EL lambs from him this spring too.
I have lost 3 of my older stud ewes over the summer, for various reasons, which is unfortunate. I do have 6-7 young ewes for breeding this year, as well as the 4 older girls, so we should have at least 10new lambs all going well.
I had to take one young ewe out of the Stud mob, as she keeps going walkabout, and I can't guarantee that she hasn't been visiting the paddocks where the other rams are. We even took her up to Poochera to curb her wandering ways, but after she dropped in at the next door neaighbours for a cuppa, we've had to bring her back home, and keep her in a locked up small paddock, with another naughty girl!!
Seeding is coming up, andI think we are all organised and ready to start as soon as the rain has been!
I will be at Bendigo again this year, hopefully with a bigger stall, so I can bring even more fibrey lovelies with me. So I hope to see a lot of you there once again.
I shall try to update this blog more regularly, so please check in for more news another time.
    Cheers, Jane

    Title: Silk!!
Have dyed lots ofthe lovely silk that came in last week, and added it to the store.
The merino/silk, 50/50 blend is just beautiful, super soft, and very lucscious!!
The silk hankies and caps are my favourite way to spin silk, drafting them is very tactile!!
More of the English Leicester Long Locks as well.
These seem to walk out as soon as I add them!!

Only 79 days to Bendigo now!!!!

Title: Handdyed BFL and BFL/Silk Tops!!
Just a note to say that I have been busy dyeing again, and have added some more hand-dyed tops to the store.
These new tops have dyed up great, they are lovely and soft, and the BFL/Tussah Silk, has just dyed beautifully!!!

    Pleasant living weather!!
Still warm in the afternons, 35C here today, but lovely mornings and evenings.

I have added some lovely undyed Blue Faced Leicester tops and grey Gotland tops to the store, along with a few other items.

Currently working on dyeing more lace yarns, so keep checking as I will add them as they are ready over the next couple of weeks.

    Title: Latest Update!!
I have been very slack about updating this blog!!!! Sorry about that!!!
It has been a little busy here lately, actually it always seems to be!!
The new lots of fibre are on the Store, and I am very happy with them. They dye up just lovely!!
The Romney sliver was a trial, and is interesting for those wanting to try new fibres.
The 29 micron Merino X-bred tops is very nice, quite soft, apparently it is mostly Border Leicester X Merino, which I am very happy about.
On the home front, DS is home again afer working away for 4 months.
The horse season has started again and the girls were off to Lock this weekend with their horses, had a lovely time by the sounds.
DS is enjoying his shearing, and it's only a matter of weeks til he gets his 'P's,
which he will be very happy about !!!
We are expecting lambs over the next few weeks, and check them more because of this.

    Title: Home Again!!
Hi, I have had a lovely holiday at Tumby Bay, and am home ready to get some fibrey stuff done for the store.
I have been dyeing for the first Fibre Club over the last couple days, and am very happy with the way it has turned out!!!
I could be seriously tempted to keep all this beautiful fibre for myself!! But I will make sure all club members get theres, and if there is any left....I'll keep it!!
I have an update planned for the store Sunday evening. Lots of lovely fleece!

    Title: I am away!!
I haven't updated my blog for a week, oops, sorry!!!
I will be away from the store from Friday morning 9th January, til Monday night 19th January.
We are going to the beach at Tumby Bay, for a whole 10 days!!!
I will send any orders on Tuesday 20th January, so lease allow for this when ordering from the store.
I will be able to check in a few times whilst away, to answer emails etc, and check Rav!!

There is a craft fair at Tumby this Sunday the 11th,which I will do whilst there, so I won't be totally cuttoff!!!!

I hope you all enjoy your holidays, I will see you all when I get back.
    Cheers, Jane.

    Title: New Fibre Club!!!
I have added some new dyed EL fleece to the store today, and have some yarns to add over the next couple days. Lace yarn as well as dyed Handspun.

I have also started a Moseley Park Fibre Club for 2009, starting in February, and going til April. I will post off a parcel of fibre each month to all members, for Feb, March and April, containing various fibres like.......sorry, can't tell you that!!! It's a secret!!! Bound to be some EL in one of the parcels though!!!
I will stay away from the commercial tops, as I hope to offer something a little different.
I am only doing a limited number for the first time, just to make sure all goes according to plan.

Just wishing everyone a Merry Xmas, and a Happy New Year.
I hope you all have a lovely time with your families over the holiday season, and we'll see you back refreshed, and ready for another year.
I have had such a lovely year, thankyou for all the support you have given me through my store, and the positive feedack from you all.

This will be my last update before Xmas, of handspun yarn and some banana yarn.

I have plans to run a fibre club in 2009, starting in February, and will put more details up here after the New Year.

Drive safely on the roads, and look after each other!!!
    Cheers Jane.

    Title: Finally!!! An update!!
I have finally made the next update.
After a few hectic days, life has settled to a more 'normal' pace for a while.
Had a lovely weekend staying at my daughter's near Tumby Bay.
Both of my girls came with me to the Pt Lincoln Craft Market. They spent most of the day with me, with just a few 'shopping' breaks!!! And kept me in 'Subway'.
    Life is hard!!!!!!!
I have been trying some corriedale sliver, but am not 100% happy with it as it is in lots of pieces, not one long length or sliver.
It does dye lovely, and is lovely and soft still.
I think it would be better for 'learners' to spin as it is not quite as fine as the merino.
I have another kg still to play with, so will see how the next lot goes.
I have some yarns to go in the store now that the Craft Markets are finished for a while, so will be putting them up over the next few weeks.
Mostly 8-10 ply yarns. Some are handwashable, and also good for felting, but most are machinewashable.
I also have a few banana silk yarns left, so will also put them in the store.

    Title: Another update!!!!
Have added more of the sockyarns, this lot are all Wool/Nylon blend, very sofr and all machinewashable!!
Also added some more dyed merino tops.
I have some corriedale tops to dye next week, or over the weekend, if I have time!! They are lovely and soft, but not quite as fine as the merino tops.
Plus some corriedale yarn, 5ply and 8ply. This is handwash only, but all 100% Australian grown and processed, same as the tops.

    Title: Bamboo Yarn!
I have been busy dyeing more sockyarns over the last few weeks, so thought it was about time I added some to the store.
The ones for today are all a lovely soft blend of Bamboo/Wool/Nylon. They are machinewashable and very soft. The bamboo gives them a lovely sheen, and extra softness, and also makes them cooler to wear in the Summer.
I have some more sockyarns to add over the next few days, mostly wool/nylon blend.
I am off to Cummins on Friday for the next Craft Fair. I am very much enjoying them!

    Title: Luscious Batts
I have up dated the Store with more hand carded batts. These ones are wool and silk blend.
Also a couple lovely soft dyed Merino fleeces.
I have managed to wrangle some of my silk away from myself, and list it. But don't worry I have kept several colours for myself.

On a totally separate subject, DS left home today to start work about 2.5 hrs away. My baby boy has flown the coop!!!
At least he has his sister only 1/2 hr away, so he won't be totally stranded from his family!

    Title: More Batts
I love my drum carder, and I have busy making lots of batts for the store.
    Some for myself as well!!!
Will keep adding things as I get time, seem to have more time these days now that we are not away every weekend with horses.
Have been bust dyeing more 8ply yarn, to take to the craft fairs.
Lots of fleece dyed, ready to spin into Xmas pressies for the family.
Last month I had a lovely birthday with my family. Here we are at Tea!

    Title: More for the store!!!
I ahave been busy taking pictures and adding to the fleeces in the store, today.
I think we have got to the bottom of the computer problems, YES!!!!
It is even better now that my laptop is wireless, I can take it out to my studio, and work from there!!! Upload photos and keep a check on emails etc. Ah, technology!

Spent the last few days, stocktaking and sorting out the sold items off the store, so it's easier to get around.
Had some lovely weather, so have been dyeing new sockyarns and some new laceweight. Will add some more over the next week.

I have decided to do a few more craft shows, so have 3 to do in the next month, busy busy!!!!

    Title: Update for Store!
I forgot to add to my blog last week when I added to the store, sorry!!
I have added a couple more fleeces and some more dyed ELtops today.
I still have some more merino tops to add tomorrow, so keep checking back for extras.

We checked all the sheep, and changed a few coats, a couple days ago. They seem to be growing fleece at an amazing rate, seems not long since we shore them!!Robert already has aout 3 inches of fleece!!
I have nearly all the lambs in coats now, except a few later lambs that are still a little bit small for a coat. So some lovely soft lambs fleeces being grown for next year!!
Harvey has a few more boys come to live with him in his paddock, and are being handfed. We can't leave the stud ram lambs in too long with the sheep, don't want any "accidents".

    Title: Naked Lambs!!!
We have been busy shearing all our lambs today! Mainly so that the lamb tip is taken off and they have a lovely fleece for next years shearing. The tip of a new lamb's fleece is very soft, and gets weathered a bit more than the rest of the fleece, over 12 months.
A lot of farmers say it also helps the lambs grow a bit bigger in size, but I can't say that I have ever noticed that to be true!!.
The lambs were getting so big, DH and DS had their hands full shearing some of them, and they wriggle and squirm so much!!!!
But the fleece was so gorgeous, I kept some, even though I just know it will be too short to do much with. I think I'll just wash it and play with it!!!!
I was very impressed with the English Leicester X Merino fleece, it was as good as I had hoped it would be. Now I just have to wait for 12months til next years shearing!!!
I have some tops, and silk/wool laceweight yarn dyed and will try to get it in the store tomorrow.
Some fleece dyeing tomorrow, and some more dyed alpaca fleece.

    Title: I am back home!!
Well we are home after a lovely time at the Adelaide Show!!
The weather was just lovely, and it was very relaxing to watch all the entertainment in the Arena, and wander through all the pavilions and see the animals.
I worked on the SACSOS(coloured sheep) stall several times and met some really lovely people. I took my knitting, and also had a spin on a different wheel.

Got home on Friday afternoon, and spent Saturday catching up on orders.

Today, Sunday, I went to Quorn for a horse show with DS. It was a pleasant day, nice weather, and the horses, and son, were well behaved!!!!

I am planning to do an update this week for the store, with lots of new fleeces, all freshly shorn.
I hope to get some fleece dyed also as I took some to Adelaide and it hasn't all come home!!

Just a note to let you know that I will be away from my store for about 8 days whilst we are at the Adelaide Show. From the 4th -13th September.
I will be working at the SACSOS(coloured sheep) stall on a few of the days whilst there, and am taking lots of goodies with me for the stall, so come and have a look and say hello if you are at the show.
Otherwise I will be back on Saturday the 13th September.
I hope to be able to check messages and emails, so will not be totally out of contact!!!

    Title: New Dyed Fleece
I know, I have been slack!!! Sorry about that, I have been really busy here at home!
The horse Shows have started and lots of things happening on the home front, it's hard to find time to get anything done on the computer!!!!
We are still getting a few lambs, and lost a couple too, but there is nothing to be done about that, natures way I guess.
I have put a few more dyed fleeces in store, and some more of the lovely EL/Mohair tops.
Heading off to the Adelaide Show in a couple weeks, so won't be able to send out any parcels whilst there. But will post them off as soon as I get back home.
Have a few more things to put in the store tomorrow, and then not til Monday/Tuesday.

    Title: New Fleece in store!
I have added some newly shorn fleeces to the store today. They are all nice fleeces, from our own sheep. Most are coated.
I will be adding a few each week, so keep an eye out for the new additions.
If you want something specific, please let me know, and I'll see if I have any.

    Title: More Dyed fleece!
I have added another lot of dyed English Leicester fleeces. I just love some of these colours!!
Everytime I dye some fleece, I think "This one is my favourite" ....until I dye the next lot!!!
Have also added few more hand-dyed yarns, mostly sockyarn.
I am currently knitting 2 of these Superwash sockyarns. The Bamboo/Wool/Nylon is just lovely, soft and silky, with a bit of lustre as well.
The other sockyarn I am knitting is the Wool/Nylon and it also is soft and feels lovely.

I don't think I will get a chance to put anymore in store this week, but I will be starting to dye some ready to take to Adelaide Show for the SACSOS stall.

I also managed to get in some English Leicester/Mohair tops, which dye just beautifully, I am so pleased with them! So I will be doing some more of it in the future.
I have added the first of my laceweight yarns, and I also still have sockyarn, and other yarns to add, over the next few days.

    Title: Fun at Bendigo!!!
Well we are home, sorry for taking so long to get on to my blog!!!
We had such a good time at Bendigo, so much to see, and so many very clever people!!!!!
I met quite a few people that I have only talked to on the internet or phone, it was so lovely to put faces to all those names!!!!

Spent quite a bit of time in the sheep sheds, with the EL's. Loved it!!

At this stage we will be back next year, to have a stand next year.
DH had a good look around, found it very interesting, was glad he went. He spent quite a bit of time watching the shearing, and found the tips and instructions very helpful.

It was a long drive, 13 hrs to get there, and then the same to return home, so we were glad that we went on the Thursday, and came home on Monday.

I bought home quite a bit of EL fleece to dye, already have a couple lots done, just need to put them on the store, over the next few days.

I also have some more sockyarns to put in store.

    Title: Off to Bendigo!!
Well it's now only one more sleep til we leave for Bendigo!!!!
All very exciting, the drive is a bit long, about 12 hrs!!! But I am planning to look and see EVERYTHING!!!!!!

So far we have about 30 EL X-bred lambs, mostly the Merino /EL X.
All very cute, and lovely to watch, such timewasters!!!!!!!
My first EL lamb is due the day we return from Bendigo, so I hope she waits for me to be around!!!! DS will be home to keep an eye on everything, and keep us up to date with any new arrivals!!!

I have some more yarn to put in the store when I get back from Bendigo, and have recieved the next shipment of yarn to dye! So will be very busy on our return.

Will be dying some EL/Mohair tops, as well as more EL fleece, in nice bright colours.

Maybe I'll catch up with some of you in Bendigo, hope it's not too cold!

See you all when we return.

    Title: Bamboo Sockyarn!
Finally I have managed to upload some more sockyarns!!!
We have been having a lot of trouble with our sattelite broadband internet.
Finally,....... they had to send someone up to the satellite and turn the switch back on!!!!
Apparently it was a sattelite problem!!
Hopefully it will be good for the next few days, so that I can add more yarn.

Have added some of the Wool/Bamboo/Nylon sockyarn, it is very soft and silky to handle, and I think it will be great for Summer sock knitting, and wearing!

Nearly forgot to mentin that I will be away for the first week of the school holidays, from the 5th July - 13th July. I hope this doesn't inconvenience anyone, I will post any orders off on Monday the 14th July.

We had 2 sets of twin lambs born yesterday, and another 2 sets of twins today!!
Very cute, all EL X. Harvey has been a busy boy!!!!! We didn't think we would have any til at least the end of June- mid July.
We brought all the merino and EL ewes in closer to the house today so we could keep a better eye on them. I know we have the alpacas, but the Wedge Tailed Eagles are also around!!! Don't want to lose any lambs!!
These lambs are all white as the ram(Harvey) is white.
    So it's all very exciting!!!

    Title: New Dyed Fleece
The internet was so slow last night, that I didn't get to add the new fleeces to the store!! But I have added them today, as well as a new yarn.

Changed the coats on some of the sheep today, some of them look nearly ready to shear now!!!! I'm sure they have longer fleece than last year!!!!

Some of the Merino ewes look nearly ready to lamb, the earliest we could possibly expect lambs is tomorrow!!!! So will have to check the sheep twice daily from now on, it's been so cold, we don't want to lose any lambs.

    Title: Joyce visits!!!
Today my friend Joyce came and we had a great day dyeing fleece, yarn and quilting fabrics!!
The weather was pretty miserable, cold and windy, but with a yummy hot pumpkin soup, and homemade bread, for lunch we battled on!!!

I will have 2 new lots of EL dyed fleece to put in the store tomorrow, and some hand-dyed 8 ply yarn.

Hopefully a bit more is on it's way here next week. It has been cold and damp.

    Title: Dyed Yarn Today!
I had a great day in my workroom dyeing yarn today, and also more EL fleece.
It should all be ready for me to put in the store tomorrow evening!!!
A few different yarns, some 4 ply sock-yarn, 8ply Alpaca, and a wool/mohair blend 8ply yarn. Very pleased with it all!

The EL fleece is always so lovely to work with and look at, lots of lustre, it's such a pleasure to dye!!!

I hope to get some more dyeing done tomorrow, as I will be home nearly all day again!! Wonderful!!
The weather is not very pleasant though, overcast, cold!!! It would be great to get some decent rain!!!

    Title: NEW FLEECES
Well I have been a bit slack about updating this blog.....life seems to be always busy!!!!
The boys have finished seeding and are now busy sowing saltbush seeds in one of the paddocks. Maybe in a few years it will be feed for my sheep!!!!!
I have listed a few more English Leicester fleeces today.
Also listed some silk caps a week ago, but didn't get a chance to update the blog!!!
Beautiful weather here at the moment, nice sunny days, very cool nights, not much wind!!! Great for solar power, not so good for growing crops!!! We could really do with some rain!!

    Title: Alpaca and Silk caps.
Hope you all had a lovely Mother's day last weekend. As you can see from the fact that I haven't added anything for the last week, I had a lovely family weekend!!!

But, I have been busy over the last few days and have added some lovely Dyed Alpaca, and some of the silk caps that I have been busy experimenting with.

I have some beautiful hand-dyed sock yarn awaiting re-skeining, and then I will have that ready to put in store as well, hopefully tomorrow.

    Title: Home Today!
Wel it's always seems so busy here!!! On monday we shore our alpacas, very interesting experience!!! Ian has shorn plenty of sheep before, but the alpacas were a first for him!!! All went well, until we brought them into the shed, then the spitting was rapid-fire!!!!!! They looked funny before shearing, (as alpacas always do) but they looked even funnier after shearing!!!!
We have them in the sheds still so theyhave a bit of shelter for a couple weeks before we put them back with the sheep.
I hope to do some more dyeing today, whilst home. So will have a few more items in the store over the weekend. Have some silk to do today!
The crops are starting to poke out of the ground!! A bit more rain would be nice though!!!

Title: We have NO dust today!!
Well what do you know! It rained last night!!!!!! We had about 9mm of rain!!!
No dust today, and it's great!!! I think winter is finally putting in an appearance!!!
The kids are off getting firewood, and I have one lot of yarn in the dyepot, and another ready to go.

But I am mending horse rugs today, so won't get much done with the wool today!

Not to worry, I added a few more lots of dyed fleece yesterday, couldn't weigh them properly as they were still damp, so have underestimated just to be safe.
Better go mending!! Might do some sheep coats whilst I am out there!!

    Title: Life's little Dramas!!!
Well I didn't manage to get back to upload anything yesterday!
Firstly I had a few problems with the sattelite internet service dropping out all the time! Then last night as I settled in to the computer, the next door farm had a fire on their property. The men all headed out to do their bit, and you could see the flames clearly!
Apparently a Traveller rang 000, because they could see a farm on fire, we live right on the Highway from Adelaide-Perth.
It turned out to be the next door neighbour burning off stubble!!
So with 4 Fire Trucks attending! it made for an interesting evening!
So here I am at last, at the computer!!

    Title: Working on the Alpaca
Well after a busy weekend, I am back and trying to get some more things on the store.
I have a few lovely alpaca fleeces that I have decided to put in the store. One is a lovely black, and the other a really luscious grey.
    Hopefully tomorrow!
The dye pot is ready for tomorrow, and I will hopefully get some fleece done, as it sounds like there could be some miserable wintery weather coming this weekend.
But it was another beautiful day here!

    Title: Corriedale fleeces instore today!
The new Corriedale fleeces are in store now. They are lovely and soft, and feel just beautiful.
I have also put in a few more of the wonderful English LeicesterXCorriedale fleeces. These are so easy to spin, no preparation, just spin straight from the bag! And they are all quite clean. The coated fleeces are just the best for spinning!
Gave the crutches away today, but still on a go slow!

Am currently working on some Suffolk Merino X, for dyeing.

    Title: More In Store!!
Well it rained last night, for about 2 minutes!!!! It is actually still trying to rain, and the the dust has settled a bit this morning.
The plants look like they have had a bit of a wash off, and are happier!
Max (the magpie) hasn't seen rain before, and is singing away, obviously enjoying himself. The horses went out the stables this morning feeling a bit frisky too!
And the dogs had to have their coats on, since they have been clipped.

I have put a couple more dyed fleeces in the store today, and another lovely yarn.

I have been busy dyeing more fleece, mostly EL.
I just love the way the English Leicester dyes.
I plan to have some more finished by tomorrow.
I see one of the EL girls has lost her rug, so will have to get them in to replace it.

Big steep learning curve over the last few weeks. Luckily the kids are away over Easter, and I have been able to spend time playing with the website.
